St. John’s basketball prospect Alex Tchifou has reclassified to the Class of 2020 and included the Red Storm in his Top-9 schools.

Perhaps some good news regarding filling the final scholarship on the 2020-21 St. John’s roster as four-star prospect Alex Tchikou will reclassify to the Class of 2020.

Tchikou, originally a member of the Class of 2021, also narrowed down his list to his final nine schools and is planning to announce his commitment in the near future.

Rivals was the first to report the reclassification of Alex Tchikou.

Oregon, Alabama, St. Mary’s, Mississippi State, Arizona, Southern California, Florida State, Illinois, and St. John’s comprise the Top-9 of the Glendale, Arizona native.

Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida,  Georgetown, North Carolina State, Nebraska, TCU, UCLA, and Washington also extended offers to the 6-foot-11 power forward but were ultimately cut from his final list.

Since his switch to the senior class, Alex Tchikou is now ranked as the No. 58 prospect in the Class of 2020 as well as being the No. 11 power forward and No. 4 player in the state of Arizona, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

Head coach Mike Anderson and his coaching staff held a virtual visit with Tchikou approximately a week ago, the same week in which the program met with Class of 2021 prospect Arthur Kaluma, a teammate of Tchikou’s at Dream City Christian School.

St. John’s offered Tchikou, who is originally from Paris, France, back on April 15.

If Alex Tchikou does commit to the Red Storm he would join a five-man recruiting class that is led by high school star Posh Alexander and Dylan Wusu in addition to JUCO All-American Vince Cole and Isaih Moore.

Mike Anderson is also bringing in George Washington graduate transfer Arnoldo Toro to combine for the No. 78 recruiting class in the country and the No. 7 class in the Big East, according 247 Sports.

Tchikou would also be one of the Top-10 rated recruits that has ever committed to St. John’s, if the cards fall in the Red Storm’s favor.
