There is no one hotter on the college basketball recruiting trail than Dan Hurley and the Connecticut Huskies.
The latest recruit to pledge his allegiance to Hurley and the Huskies was St. John’s basketball target Samson Johnson as the four-star announced his decision via his Twitter page on Monday afternoon.

Johnson had picked up interest from a number of schools and some recruiting experts even called his process as a head-scratcher, specifically Corey Evans of Rivals who said there was still a “long way to go” in his recruitment last week in a Mailbag Q&A.
However, in that same time period Brian Snow of 247 Sports logged a Crystal Ball Prediction for Samson Johnson to land in Storrs, which eventually came true days later.
Johnson, a Class of 2021 recruit, stars at The Patrick School (NJ), which has turned into a pipeline for big men to head to UConn following the commitment of Adama Sanogo earlier this summer, who looked to be a Seton Hall lock.
Listed at 6-foot-10, 200 pounds, Johnson is ranked as the No. 86 recruit in the Class of 2021, No. 18 power forward, and No. 2 player in the state of New Jersey, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

Samson Johnson also held offers from Miami (FL), Pittsburgh, Providence, St. John’s, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and Xavier, among others,
While many devoted fans of the Red Storm were hoping Johnson would find his way to Queens, it was not as anticipated or expected than Brentwood (NY) star Jordan Riley, who spurned the Johnnies for Patrick Ewing and the Georgetown Hoyas two weeks ago.

Nonetheless, it’s not the best sign to see Mike Anderson losing local recruits to Big East rivals week after week this summer, although St. John’s was able to get on the board in the Class of 2021 with New York native Drissa Traore.
