The St. John’s basketball program extended an offer to Class of 2022 power forward Jerome Beya.

Head coach Mike Anderson and his coaching staff continue to be extremely busy on the recruiting trail as St. John’s has extended an offer to Class of 2022 power forward Jerome Beya.

Beya, a three-star prospect in the junior class, stands at 6-foot-9, 205 pounds and is ranked as the No. 187 recruit in his class, No. 37 power forward, and No. 2 player in the state of West Virginia, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

Originally from Kinshasa, which is the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jerome Beya now resides in Scott Depot, West Virginia as he stars at Teays Valley Christian School.

St. John’s was not one of the first power conference programs to offer Beya as the Red Storm are entering an already competitive and crowded race for the forward.

Robert Morris, Stetson, Xavier, Illinois, Bryant, South Florida, Virginia Tech, Temple, Oregon, Wake Forest, North Carolina State, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh have all offered Jerome Beya but he has not provided a timetable on when a decision could be reached.

Given the restrictions on NCAA recruiting guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic, recruits are in a strange position where they could be making a decision on which school to attend before they take a visit to the campus.

Uncommitted players in the Class of 2022 are in a better position than uncommitted players in the Class of 2021 because the junior class still has more time for the NCAA to loosen its restrictions, pending on better data regarding the virus, before recruits must make a decision.

Mike Anderson and his staff are eyeing a massive haul in the Class of 2022, which would be headlined by Kyle Cuffe Jr. if all goes well for the Johnnies.
