The opponent for the St. John’s basketball program’s season opener was finally revealed.

The St. John’s basketball program finally has an opponent for their opening contest of the 2020-21 season.

Head coach Mike Anderson and his squad will host on Saint Peter’s University to tip-off the year on November 25, according to a report by Zach Braziller of the New York Post.

This was originally slated to be a multi-team event that included Bryant, but after the Bulldogs dropped out of the event, the Red Storm was left searching for a new opponent, like so many other programs around the country.

St. John’s season opener is scheduled for a 7:00pm EST start in what looks to be a doubleheader with the women’s program, who will also begin its season at home on November 25 against St. Francis College (Brooklyn).

A tip-off time has not been announced for the women’s game.

St. Peter’s will also play La Salle on November 27 to complete The Lapchick Tournament, which is being held for the first time in 25 years.

The start times for most of the Red Storm’s schedule has also been revealed as well, as it will be a quick turnaround for the Johnnies following its first game with the Red Storm facing La Salle the following afternoon on Thanksgiving Day with a tip-off time of 2:00pm EST.

What does the rest of the St. John’s basketball schedule look like?

St. John’s will then take on Boston College in a power-conference non-conference battle at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut on November 30 at 9:00pm EST.

There is no start time for St. John’s matchup on the road against Texas Tech in the Big East vs. Big 12 Challenge.

Following its trip to Lubbock, the Red Storm will return home to face Sacred Heart on December 6 at 12:00pm EST and then finish out the non-conference portion of its schedule against the Fordham Rams on December 8 at 7:00pm EST.

Finally, the rest of the announced schedule consists of home games against Creighton on December 17 at 5:00pm EST and Georgetown at 6:30pm EST on December 20 that will both take place in Carnesecca Arena.
