There are more scheduling issues regarding the St. John’s basketball program entering Big East play.
As Big East Conference play looms on Friday, St. John’s basketball is running into more scheduling issues.
Jeff Goodman of Watch Stadium first reported on Sunday evening that the Connecticut Huskies will be pausing all basketball operations for the second time this season because of COVID-19 positive test within its program.
UConn was scheduled to make its return to the Big East Conference after a seven year hiatus against the Red Storm at Gampel Pavilion on Friday night.
That game has since been postponed and hopefully will be played at a later date.
Friday night’s game marks the third game this week that has been impacted by COVID-19 for St. John’s as the team canceled its trip to Lubbock, Texas last Thursday to face Texas Tech and scheduled a matchup against BYU on Wednesday in ‘Bubbleville’.

Sunday’s victory over Stony Brook was scheduled to be a game against Sacred Heart, but the Pioneers had to cancel because of positive tests for the second time this season.
The Johnnies were also slated to play Fordham this Tuesday, but the Rams also had positive tests and were forced to cancel as St. John’s was able to schedule Rider as a replacement.
St. John’s basketball still has a chance to play on Friday
Despite its postponed game with UConn, the Red Storm still have chance to play its first Big East game of the 2020-21 season on Friday night.
The DePaul Blue Demons, who have yet to play a game this season, had to cancel its matchup against Iowa State on Sunday because of more positive COVID tests.
In its press release,DePaul said that its next scheduled game will be against Seton Hall on Friday afternoon, but the status of that game remains in limbo given contact tracing and possible quarantines.

If the Seton Hall-DePaul game is postponed, St. John’s could make the trip to the Prudential Center to face the Pirates, given the Johnnies were slated to travel to Connecticut and Seton Hall was set to host the Blue Demons.
As the college basketball world continues to wait on word from DePaul, St. John’s (4-1) will be back on the floor against Rider (0-1) on Tuesday night in Queens (7:00pm EST, CBS Sports Network).
