St. John’s soccer program announced the women’s spring season schedule.

After a long wait, soccer will finally be back in Belson Stadium as the schedule for the spring season schedule for the St. John’s soccer programs, men’s and women’s, was unveiled on Tuesday.

The Red Storm come into this season after finishing off 2019 with a dismal 5-12-1 record.

The Johnnies will try to improve upon their disappointing campaign from a season ago this spring and having star forward Zsani Kajan, now a redshirt senior, back for one more go-around certainly helps the cause after she scored 11 goals in 17 games last season.

The St. John’s Women’s Soccer team will open their season on February 21 against Albany.

The last competitive game for the women’s team was a 3-2 overtime loss to the Georgetown Hoyas on the road in their regular-season finale on October 31, 2019.

Daunting schedule lies ahead for the St. John’s soccer team

After facing off against Albany, the Red Storm will take on Sacred Heart in a two-game non-conference schedule.

In the Big East, the conference was split into East and Midwest Divisions in order to limit travel amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The East division consists of St. John’s, Seton Hall, Providence, Villanova, Georgetown, and Connecticut.

The Midwest division is comprised of Creighton, Marquette, DePaul, Butler, and Xavier as the Red Storm will play a 10 game conference schedule, only against their East Divisional rivals.

St. John’s will start conference play with two home games against the Villanova Wildcats on March 4 and the Seton Hall Pirates on March 7.

The remainder of the team’s home games will be against Providence on March 18, UConn on March 28, and Georgetown on April 3.

Ian Stone‘s team will also play road games against the Huskies on March 11, Hoyas on March 14, Wildcats on March 21, Pirates on March 25, and Friars on April 8 in the regular-season finale.

The Big East Women’s Soccer Championship will be held from April 15 to April 18 in Rhode Island as St. John’s will also have two bye weeks built into the schedule in case games need to be rescheduled because of the pandemic.
