The St. John’s basketball program is interested in yet another Class of 2023 guard.

It’s never too early to start recruiting and Mike Anderson and his staff at St. John’s have made it a priority to connect with potential prospects very early in their recruitment.

The Red Storm have already been linked to Class of 2023 point guard Spencer Joyner, who has already achieved an extreme amount of success in his career with his fight back to the court after being diagnosed with pseudotumor cerebri.

However, St. John’s is also very interested in rising sophomore Terrell Pitts, a 2023 guard out of Bishop McDevitt High School (PA).

In recent days the 6-foot-4, 175 pound Trenton, New Jersey native has picked up offers from Nebraska and St. Peter’s University, while gathering interest from Drexel, Siena and St. John’s.

Throughout his freshman season, Pitts showcased his scoring, passing, and defensive abilities while averaging 8.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.3 assist, 2.1 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.

Terrell Pitts posted his season highlights to his Hudl account where he proved he could develop into the perfect prospect for Mike Anderson and St. John’s in the future.

Pitts’ ability to get after things on the defensive end while still having the stamina to orchestrate the offense has been held in high regards in Anderson’s first year at St. John’s with Nick Rutherford and Rasheem Dunn as vital two-way players.

St. John’s clearly does not have any commits from the Class of 2023 yet, but the Johnnies have extended two scholarships to two New Jersey natives, Simeon Wilcher of Roselle Catholic and Mackenzie Mgbako of Gil St. Bernard’s.

Wilcher is listed as a 6-foot-2 point guard while Mgbako is a small forward at 6-foot-7.

The Red Storm are coming off of a 17-15 (5-13 Big East) year where the Johnnies ended the season on a high note with a 30-point victory over No. 10 Creighton and a win over Georgetown in the Big East Tournament where St. John’s closed the game on a 23-0 run.
