The St. John’s basketball program is interested in a 7-footer that has tied to the Red Storm’s program.

Over the past handful of seasons St. John’s has been missing that one dominant force in the paint.

Several players have come and gone, but all have a flaw in their game, including current big man Josh Roberts. However, that could soon come to an end as the Red Storm as pursuing a Class of 2022 7-footer.

Silas Sunday is finishing up his sophomore season at Our Savior Lutheran High School, the same program that produced incoming freshman Posh Alexander and Dylan Wusu, and will soon breakout as one of the top prospect in the rising junior class.

Sunday is originally a native of Lucas, Ireland and moved to the United States in 2017 when the young man was just 14-years old.

While in Ireland he was working out with the Dublin Celtics and Liffey Celtics to prepare himself for the completion of high school basketball in America.

Silas Sunday received his first offer on May 1 from the Kansas State Wildcats and then his second offer came on May 20 from the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

However, despite not receiving other offers just yet, many other programs are interested in Sunday like St. John’s, Pittsburgh, Oregon State, and others.

Sunday also plays for the New York Lightning on the AAU circuit.

St. John’s currently does not have a commit in the Class of 2022 yet, but Mike Anderson and his staff have currently extended offers to a plethora of guards in the sophomore class so pursuing a big man could be beneficial to the Red Storm.

Current rising junior on the Johnnies, Josh Roberts and Marcellus Earlington will have graduated by the time Silas Sunday could be entering Queens so the Bronx native could be anchoring the paint in Carnesecca Arena and Madison Square Garden for St. John’s.
