Locals turn up pressure on St. John’s basketball target Sean Durugordon
Several local New York City programs are turning up the pressure on St. John’s basketball target Sean Durugordon.
The recruiting race for Sean Durugordon is heating up as the Queens, New York native recently picked up offers from Penn State, Georgia, VCU, Iona, and East Carolina.
Iona and Eastern Carolina just offered Durugordon within the last two days while the Putnam Science Academy (CT) star is expected to have a virtual meeting with Hofstra next week, already holding an offer from head coach Joe Mihalich.

DePaul, Massachusetts, San Francisco, and South Florida, are some of the other schools that have offered the 6-foot-7 small forward while Connecticut, Rutgers, Clemson, Creighton, Old Dominion, Tulsa, Vermont, St. John’s, Texas Tech, Xavier, Temple, Missouri, Texas A&M, and Providence are new schools that have shown interest.
Rivals and Verbal Commits ranks Durugordon as a three-star recruit and despite not having a ranking in the 247 Sports Composite Rankings yet, the versatile wing continues to climb up the recruiting boards of many coaches across the country.
Assuming that Sean Durugordon does pick up an offer from St. John’s, it will mark the first time that Mike Anderson and new Iona head coach Rick Pitino go head-to-head for a New York City recruit, something that is so important to the recruiting philosophies of both programs.
