The St. John’s basketball program offered one of the best high school freshman in North America, Class of 2023 standout Elijah Fisher.
It might be eventually too late to build a relationship with a recruit or a prospect, but it’s certainly never too early and that’s what Mike Anderson and the St. John’s Red Storm are doing.
The Johnnies recently offered Class of 2023 prospect Elijah Fisher, one of the top prospect in all of North America and perhaps the next basketball star to come from Canada.

Jake Weingarten of StockRisers was the first to report the Red Storm offering the 6-foot-7, 215 pound wing.
Although St. John’s is connecting with the prospect very early in his recruitment, Mike Anderson’s program is not the first school to extend an offer to Fisher.
Fisher also holds offers from West Virginia, Seton Hall, Memphis, Texas A&M, Florida, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Oregon, Ole Miss, Southern California, Western Kentucky, and Morgan State.
Weingarten also reported that Morgan State, an HBCU (Historically black colleges and universities), is hoping to get Fisher on its campus for an unofficial visit whenever that is allowed by the NCAA and health experts around the country.
In an exclusive blog post written by Elijah Fisher for Sports Illustrated, he mentioned those schools as the ones that are recruiting him the hardest, but he acknowledges that there are other programs who will also be recruiting him after he completes his freshman year at Crestwood Prep College in Toronto.
Fisher also plays on the Adidas AAU Circuit for Grassroots Elite Canada.

Fisher will be continuing his blog series for Sports Illustrated throughout his high school career and recruitment.
