The St. John’s basketball program has been cut from the list of Top-2 finalists for 2021 JUCO recruit Dashawn Davis.

The wait for the first commitment of the 2021 class continues for St. John’s after JUCO recruit Dashawn Davis did not include the Red Storm in his list of finalists.

Originally, Davis was planning to release a final list of around five teams on July 10th, however he announced Tuesday on his Twitter page that he cut his finalists down to Seton Hall and Oregon State.

The Bronx native was previously committed to Seton Hall in 2018, but he was released from his National Letter of Intent after concerns over his academic eligibility.

Oregon State has heavily picked up their interest in Davis in the past few weeks, offering him a scholarship on June 23 followed by a virtual meeting on June 25.

Davis was also generating plenty of interest from programs such as DePaul, Alabama, and Oklahoma State along with many others checking in on the highly-regarded junior college prospect.

The Red Storm had offered the Class of 2021 prospect back on June 16 followed by a virtual meeting last week. It seemed like the situation was rapidly progressing after the Red Storm’s meeting with Davis as he announced shortly after that he would be putting out his final list of schools in the next few weeks, potentially pointing to St. John’s as one of the leaders for him at the time.

Davis had also previously attended Our Savior Lutheran High School, the same school where current incoming freshmen Posh Alexander and Dylan Wusu attended before he went the JUCO route.

Instead of following the OSL stars to Queens, he will choose between the Seton Hall Pirates and the Oregon State Beavers.

The 6-foot-3 guard had an impressive freshmen season for Trinity Valley Community College (Tex.) averaging 21.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game on 50.8-percent shooting from the floor and 36-percent from three-point range.

The Red Storm will have to scratch this name off the list and move on to other options on the recruiting board in order to start filling out the 2021 recruiting class.
