The Red Storm offered the four-star recruit back on July 5 just after Class of 2020 stud forward Alex Tchikou announced his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide over St. John’s and others.
The 6-foot-6 guard stars at Northeast High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Cardet Jr. is ranked as the No. 102 recruit in the Class of 2021, No.7 combo guard, and No. 8 in the state of Florida, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
St. John’s has plenty of competition for Cardet Jr. as he has received offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Iowa State, and Rutgers among others.
Cardet Jr. gave some thoughts on his mindset in his recruitment process in an interview with “The Sideline Sports Report” saying that “location doesn’t matter” in terms of choosing his potential destination. This can give the Red Storm even more optimism that they can land the four-star recruit.

He has said that he will most likely make a commitment late in his senior year as the coronavirus pandemic has caused many tournaments and recruiting showcases to be canceled, creating plenty of uncertainty on the recruiting scene.
St. John’s currently doesn’t have a commitment in the Class of 2021 yet, but Mike Anderson and his staff have been busy on the recruiting trail throughout the offseason so one should be coming in the near future as the summer and fall continue to progress.
It is another encouraging sign to see the staff challenging for more highly ranked recruits as Mike Anderson looks to bring the Red Storm back towards the top of the Big East and college basketball.
