The St. John’s basketball program is entering the recruiting race for a Class of 2021 power forward who already has a host of major offers.

Kuluel Mading is slowly blossoming on the recruiting trail as more and more programs are reaching out to the 6-foot-10 big man.

A native of Burlington, North Carolina and star at The Burlington School, he updated his recruiting to Jake Weingarten of Stock Risers.

Schools that have already offered Mading are VCU, Providence, Hampton, College of Charleston, University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Elon, Wichita State, and others.

Of those schools Mading told Weingarten that he has only virtually met with VCU, Providence, and Wake Forest.

However,  St. John’s, Georgia, Oregon State, Penn State, James Madison, Vanderbilt, and Iowa are the latest schools to become involved with the power forward but none of those schools have extended an offer as of yet.

Kuluel Mading has also completed a virtual visit with Iowa and expressed to Stock Risers that he wants to take his in-person visits, if public health and NCAA guidelines permit, to VCU, Hampton, UNC Wilmington, Providence, and Wake Forest.

Mading is ranked as the No. 159 recruit in the Class of 2021, No. 31 power forward, and No. 8 player in the state of North Carolina, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

It seems clear that head coach Mike Anderson is continuing to prioritize big men in the Class of 2021 as the lone St. John’s commit, Drissa Traore, stands at 6-foot-9 but is more impactful as a wing and on the perimeter rather as a rim protector in the paint.

With many schools still entering the recruiting process for Kuluel Mading, do not expect a cutdown of his list or announcement anytime soon, although he has given no indication that a decision could be near.
