The St. John’s basketball program will have some stiff competition for Class of 2022 center Silas Sunday from Our Savior Lutheran.

Our Savior Lutheran High School in the Bronx is becoming a pipeline to St. John’s University but with two players already on the Red Storm’s roster, head coach Mike Anderson is looking for more.

However, the Red Storm will have some tough competition for Class of 2022 center Silas Sunday, who is rising up many recruiting boards in a hurry.

More from Storm The Paint

Sunday, a 6-foot-10, 280 pound big man originally from Ireland, told Recruits Zone that Kansas, Pittsburgh, Tulsa, Bryant, Manhattan, St. John’s, Rutgers, Illinois, Kansas State, Wake Forest, and Nebraska have recently contacted him.

Ranked as a three-star prospect, the 247 Sports Composite Rankings places Sunday as the No. 157 recruit in the Class of 2022, No. 18 center, and the No. 3 player in the state of New York.

Silas Sunday also plays for the NY Lighting on the AAU Circuit.

St. John’s has also recently reached out to Sunday’s teammate at OSL, Jaquan Sanders, who is also a member of the Class of 2022.

The Red Storm extended an offer to Sunday back on June 16.

Since arriving in Queens, things have not gone completely according to play for Mike Anderson and the Johnnies on the recruiting trail but the program is hoping for one of the best recruiting classes in the Big East in 2022.

Anderson just landed his first commitment in the Class of 2021 with Harlem, New York native Drissa Traore as the program tries to fill out a complementary piece to the forward in next year’s incoming class.

As forward Josh Roberts would no longer be on the team when Silas Sunday would be a freshman in college, he could be the force in the paint St. John’s has been lacking for such an extended period of time.
